Maury Place One Year Anniversary
Today, October 31, is the one year anniversary of our first guests staying at Maury Place! I just turned back our guest book to read what our first guests wrote: "What a memorable Halloween night--it was a TREAT to spend it here! We will spread the word about this beautiful place!" We have come a long way since then. Thank you to all of our loyal guests, friends and supporters! The year has flown by, and we have learned so much! Yes, there have been times when we were not particularly excited to rise at 6:00 a.m. to begin our morning routine for breakfast preparations, but I can truthfully say that chatting with our guests in the dining room ALWAYS brightened my day. The many wonderful guests who have entered our doors and shared their lives with us have made it ALL worthwhile! We also appreciate guest suggestions in how to make the Maury Place guest experience even better! We added power strips in each guest room for laptops, cell phones, ipods, etc.; a single cup coffee maker in the butler's pantry for late night or early morning coffee, tea or hot chocolate; and mini book lights by every bed. We are now looking into lighted make-up mirrors for the bathrooms. In just a year, we have reached Number One on TripAdvisor, and we could not have achieved that without our great guests who have enriched our lives and Maury Place! This month was our busiest month ever, and we have been noted in this Fall's issues of Washingtonian and Taste of the South magazines. Coming soon will be articles about our innkeepers' suite in Small Room Decorating magazine and about our new kitchen in Better Homes and Gardens' Remodel magazine. Thank you to you all, and we look forward to many more rewarding years ahead! Stay tuned for November specials to commemorate our one year in business and to honor the 80th Anniversary of the dedication of the Maury Statue. Guests who checked in this evening are celebrating their one year wedding anniversary. Divine Symmetry!! Happy Halloween!!
