Richmond is #2 in Men's Health Donation Nation Survey!
The December 2009 issue of Men's Health magazine contains an article entitled "Donation Nation" that ranks the charitable giving of America's cities. To assess which were "the most giving" cities, the magazine determined which cities made the largest charitable donation online during the holidays. They then calculated the number of donations given to Goodwill Industries International in the month of December and the amount collected by the Salvation Army's Red Kettle Campaign. Finally, they looked at the number of toys donated to the Marine Toys for Tots Foundation. Guess what?? The City of Richmond, Virginia was NUMBER 2!! Richmond was second only to Madison, Wisconsin. Interestingly, Norfolk, Virginia was Number 10 on the list. We are happy to be part of such a giving community as Richmond, Virginia!
