The Trees Are Up!

Maury Place is fully decked out for the holidays! We have put the finishing touches on each of four Christmas trees. You can see all four trees from the front door entry hall! The large tree in the bay window in our front parlor is decorated in silver, gold, clear, and white ornaments this year. It sparkles! The small tree under the steps in our front hall has an Old World look with small glass candle ornaments and stained glass stars. We also have a few Maury Place gift items under the tree that might be perfect for Christmas gift giving. As last year, the small tree in the library is decorated with my collection of glass birds. I purchased most of these birds during a Christmas Markets trip that Mac and I took with some friends a few years ago. I think I was drawn to collecting these birds because I remember a similar ornament from our Wells family tree that belonged to my mother. We have also displayed our nutcracker collection in the library. My Mom also started me on that collection! I have displayed only twelve, but I have several more! Some of those also came from our German Christmas markets trip, but the basis of the collection is a soldier nutcracker that my parents gave me when I was 13. It is unusual because it is stamped on the bottom as having been made in East Germany. Finally, our largest tree is in the dining room. It has a woodland theme and is decorated with birds, pinecones, and other woodland items. Christmas time is here!
