Maury Place Noted in Washingtonian Magazine!

We are honored to have been noted in the most recent issue of Washingtonian magazine! The September issue on "Fall Weekends" notes "36 Easy Getaways that require little planning and are close by." We are featured on page 88 in an article by Ellen Ryan entitled "Easy Street." The article focuses on Carytown, our favorite shopping district right down the street! Some of our favorite stores such as Mongrel, Bygones, and World of Mirth are noted along with For the Love of Chocolate, whose truffles we feature in our guest rooms! Of course the Byrd Theatre, Richmond's Landmark Movie Palace, is noted as well. As Ellen observes, "a leisurely stroll along [Cary Street] offers interesting shops, stylish dining, and an old-fashioned movie house." She continues, "There's even an old-is-new-again mansion nearby for a relaxing end to your day." (That's us!). Maury Place "is a sumptous four-room B&B just off stately Monument Avenue."
We were also gratified to see the large lovely picture of our library! The issue offers great ideas for weekend escapes, and we are honored to have been included.

Inn Dogs Web Page Is Live!

Note from Chico-- I have been working hard lately to post a web page for myself and my fellow Inn Dog, Lucy (my big sister!).

You can see me in the picture to the right working on my computer. It is hard to fit this work in, between taking my owners for walks, and napping.

See the results for yourself at our new Maury Place Inn Dogs web page!

Who Knows Where the Time Goes?

I have often thought that there is a time when the seasons "click"--especially when summer turns to fall. I could not help but feel that we had a taste of fall this week in Richmond. I needed to wear a long sleeved shirt Thursday evening. We needed a light blanket on the bed that night. Mums and pumpkins began appearing at our local grocery stores, and students are heading back to school! On the soundtrack of my life, the Judy Collins standard "Who Knows Where the Time Goes" is one of my "fall," autumnal songs. Coincidentally, I happened to hear that song by chance twice this week, both the Judy Collins version and a version by Eva Cassidy. Like fall itself, that song always makes me a bit wistful for the past and leaves me wondering what the colder months hold in store. Soon, we will be planting mums and pansies around the house and lighting the fires in our fireplaces. We opened our doors at Maury Place to our first guests in October 2008, and here it is almost one year later! I cannot believe how quickly time has passed! It has been great fun, and we have so enjoyed meeting so many great people! Thank you to all for your support, and we look forward to another beautiful fall at Maury Place.
