Reel Pride Richmond: November 5-6, 2010

Maury Place at Monument is proud to be a sponsor of The Second Annual Reel Pride Richmond Film Festival. This year's festival occurs November 5-6 and will feature a selection of outstanding films that celebrate the lives and loves of LGBT individuals--and indeed all those who value a fair and compassionate community! As Virginia's leading LGBT Film Festival, attendees will have the unique opportunity to view documentaries, dramas, and comedies reflecting the best and most compelling LGBT films and meet producers, directors, and actors involved. After the overwhelming response to last year's festival, Reel Pride Richmond has this year moved to Richmond Center Stage, our City's beautiful new Performing Arts Center. The Festival will be held in the Gottwald Playhouse with a Friday night cocktail reception and an after party in adjoining reception spaces. The Gala Opening Night will feature the premiere of Howl. Howl stars James Franco as Allen Ginsberg and was directed by the Academy Award winning directors of The Life and Times of Harvey Milk and The Celluloid Closet. The film also stars David Strathairn, Jon Hamm, Mary-Louise Parker, and Jeff Daniels. All proceeds raised from the Film Festival will benefit ROSMY, Richmond's Organization for Sexual Minority Youth. Mac and I support ROSMY and its mission to enhance the overall well being of sexual minority youth through support, education, advocacy, and opportunities. ROSMY is perhaps needed now more than ever!
