After enjoying one night in a small inn off of King Street in Charleston, South Carolina, we have stopped in Savannah for 2 nights on our way home from the Professional Association of Innkeepers International Conference. The conference was excellent, and (as always) we are returning home to Maury Place with lots of good ideas to improve the Maury Place experience for our guests.
We are now staying at a historic property overlooking Lafayette Square in Savannah. Today, we enjoyed a historic trolley tour of old Savannah and lingering among the shops on the Savannah River and in other areas. We especially enjoyed the unexpected delights in the SCAD (Savannah College of Art and Design!) shop. Very eclectic and funky! It has been fun to stay at other small historic properties in historic cities that are similar to Richmond. Tomorrow, we are stopping briefly in Charlotte, North Carolina, to visit family and friends there before we head back to Richmond.
