National Train Day is May 7!

I was amused to learn that Saturday, May 7, is National Train Day because it is also my father's birthday.  My father, Jack Wells, worked for Norfolk and Southern (previously Norfolk and Western) Railroad for about forty years, so he knew something about trains.  He also LOVED them and enjoyed train travel.  So I think of him whenever I hear a train whistle blow.  Richmond is within a short train ride of Washington, D.C., with arrivals and departures from either our Staples Mill Station or Main Street Station.  Mac and I have taken the train to Washington, D.C. and New York City several times.

Richmond's Science Museum is in a building that was once our city's train station.  The rotunda is beautiful, and we are so grateful that the building was preserved on Broad Street.  Check it out!
