Virginia Attractions | Virginia: Cradle of the Presidents

Woodrow Wilson Birthplace
Virginia is known as "The Cradle of the Presidents" because eight United States Presidents were born in the Commonwealth--more than any other State!  Presidents Washington, Jefferson, Madison, Monroe, Harrison, Tyler, Taylor, and Wilson were all born in Virginia.  As you can see from our newly updated "Attractions" page on our website, the homes or birth places of many of these Presidents are within a short drive from Maury Place at Monument.  Mac and I recently visited the Woodrow Wilson Library and birth place in Staunton, and it was very interesting.  One of the most significant items on display there is Woodrow Wilson's presidential car, which has been painstakingly refurbished to its former glory!  Staunton is approximately an hour and half drive from Maury Place.

At Maury Place, we also proudly use reproduction White House Presidential China at breakfast from the Washington, Jefferson, Madison, and Monroe White House years.

Here in Richmond, our own Hollywood Cemetery was the final resting place of Presidents Monroe and Tyler.  Interestingly, Woodrow Wilson is the only President buried in Washington, D.C.  He is interred at the National Cathedral.
