Matthew Fontaine Maury Articles in "Virginia Magazine of History and Biography"

The Maury Monument directly across the street from Maury Place at Monument honors Matthew Fontaine Maury, a native Virginian who is best remembered for inventing modern concepts of navigation and oceanography.  The corner where our home Maury Place now stands was designated "Maury Place" in anticipation of this monument. The most recent issue of the "Virginia Magazine of History and Biography" features a model of the monument on its cover and two articles about Matthew Fontaine Maury. The articles also feature historic photos of Matthew Fontaine Maury and the monument itself. The magazine is published by the Virginia Historical Society, which is a short walk from Maury Place at Monument. Here they are for your reading pleasure!
