Visit Richmond This Spring!

Richmond is a treat city to visit this spring, and its many great attractions are just a short walk or drive from luxury bed and breakfast Maury Place at Monument.

Just a half mile from the inn is the Virginia Museum of Fine Arts, featuring "Pop Art and Beyond:Tom Wesselmann" (April 4- July 28). VMFA, a top ten museum, is a sublime delight featuring 5000 years of art, an enticing shop and Amuse, an award-winning restaurant.  Maury Place on Monument guests can enjoy a stroll down historic Monument Avenue, or can go shopping at Carytown, Richmond's mile-long shopping and dining district.

Richmond is a town with a creative vibe which translates to live music, theater, dance and great foodie restaurants. It's the city where Patrick Henry said "Give me liberty or give me death." As the capital of the Confederacy, the city was burned as the union troops advanced, and is the Capital of Virgina. The neoclassical capitol, designed by Thomas Jefferson, is the location where much of Spielberg's "Lincoln" was filmed.

Outdoors Magazine voted Richmond the Best Outdoors Town in 2013.  The majestic James River brought John Smith in 1607, and today is a haven to wildlife, featuring class 4 rapids through the heart of the city, offering kayaks, rafts and tubes unforgettable rides. Walk or bike along the flood wall, or cross a suspended pedestrian bridge to an island for an oasis of wilderness.
