20th Century Design and Adaptation Exhibit at VA Center for Architecture
The Virginia Center for Architecture is now showing "MUTATIONS: The DNA of Twentieth Century Design." The exhibit communicates its theory of design mutation by featuring the work of 28 iconic designers, including Frank Lloyd Wright, Christian Dior, Walter Gropius, Saul Bass, and Yves Saint Laurent. The show pulls together the design disciplines and examines how they influenced one another--how architecture influenced fashion, which influenced graphic design, which influenced interior design. The exhibit runs through October 13 at the Virginia Center for Architecture at 2501 Monument Avenue--just a short walk from Maury Place. The Virginia Center for Architecture is located in the Branch House, which is the largest dwelling on Monument Avenue. The exhibit is free and open from 10 to 5 Tuesday through Friday and 1 to 5 on Saturday. For more information, call 804-644-3041 or visit www.virginiaarchitecture.org.
