Williamsburg Winery Wins 2014 Governor's Cup Award

The Williamsburg Winery was honored last week when Virginia Governor Terry McAuliffe awarded the 2014 Virginia Wineries Association's Governor's Cup to the Williamsburg Winery's 2010 Adagio, a blended red wine.

The Virginia Governor's Cup Competition was conducted over three weeks of preliminary tastings, and the final round of tastings was held at The Jefferson Hotel in Richmond in early February. The winner was selected from 410 entries of both red and white wines from 96 wineries.

Sales of Virginia wines reached a record high in the last fiscal year that ended on June 30 with more than 6.1 million bottles sold. Virginia ranks fifth in the nation in the number of wineries in the state, now 250! Many are within a short drive of Maury Place at Monument. Maury Place exclusively features Virginia wines--including several from the Williamsburg Winery!
